Six Technologies 'Star Wars' that can not be far, far away

The trailer for Star Wars: The Force wakes can only be 88 seconds long, but manages to pack a punch. (Some of us have even spent too much time dissecting the whole thing.) Personally, my favorite parts of Star Wars and there are many-east of the incredible technology that meets this "old" galaxy. It turns out that some of it is not as far as you might think.

Droid-Roll

The spherical balls droids looking trailer has already become a favorite of Internet, but you do not have to venture on Tatooine to find something similar. 100 Sphero is a robotic ball that can be controlled from your smartphone or tablet. You can navigate obstacle courses and change colors and it is still soft. And while it may not be able to help you with your next jump to hyperspace, is not likely to cause as many problems as the average R2 unit.

landspeeder

Since the original Star Wars films began, hot rod enthusiasts we have salivated at the prospect of zipping on the ground in our own vehicle repulsor power. While actual speed and motorbikes landspeeders could still be a long way off, is (a new) hope. The previously mentioned Drone 3 hoverbike is not big enough to fly a real person around, but its manufacturer, aerospace Malloy, has been working hard to try to develop the world's first flying motorcycle. And they are not the only company working on it either; Aerofex aerospace firm was even tested their own bikes hovercraft in the Mojave Desert. With this number of stakeholders, we hope that will not be long before we're ready for a drag-racing inflation.

X-Wings

It may lack something compact and elegant space superiority fighter Incom T-65 size, but the project SpaceX, Elon Musk has at least a superficial resemblance to the iconic Star Wars Snubfighter (which also makes an appearance bounds close to hitting water the new trailer). Falcon 9 (wonder where they got that name * ahem *) The Company uses the rocket "hypersonic wings red" in a setting of "extreme x" to help stabilize landing. No word yet on its ability to land a Death Star, if needed. (Of course, in reality it is likely to build a Death Star, in addition to Elon Musk?)

lightsaber

Who has not wanted to exercise his own lightsaber? Certainly not your humble correspondent, who may have built his own custom template last visited Disneyland. While laser swords in the hands of the Jedi Knights perhaps even more science fiction than fact, scientists from Harvard University and MIT have built "molecules" of light, which could allow actually build "objects" of photons instead of instead of simply cross over. Great, as long as you do not mind having your lightsaber duels at the subatomic level. Meanwhile, check out this handy guide to building your own model of LED technology at home. We are sure to make T-shaped scale is just around the corner.

lasguns

Lightsabers may be fiction, but laser weapons are firmly in the realm of facts. The US Navy has already deployed in active war ship, the USS Ponce. The laser weapon system (Laws) is primarily designed for the fight against air threats such as drones. Unlike Star Wars disintegrators, however, the real world laser are slightly less impressive look; you will not see red or green bolt shot into goals. Instead, the laws essentially burn holes in its objectives maintaining high power laser formed in them for long periods of time. In other words, Greedo would have had to sit much more to Han shoot first.

Space travel for all

Well, no one is even close to double the Millennium Falcon, also known as the fastest piece of junk in the galaxy. That does not stop me wanting one, with Wookiee copilot. Consumer space travel has existed for decades, as long as you are among the super rich, but the recent tragic accident Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo may signal a setback for those who want a taste of the life style of astronauts. However, a recent agreement between Boeing, NASA and Space Adventures office space tourism could open the door for space travel. But it still will not be cheap, and it probably will not make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.
